Barkhetri College was established in 1983. It is a long story of the most determined struggle, selfless, dedicated service and sacrifices made to the case of education by some distinguished persons, teachers under the guidance and leadership of Sheikh Mobaraque Hussain who was also the founder Principal of the college. The college is permanently affiliated to Gauhati University (GU), Assam, offering Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Besides, the college has one Distance Education Study Centers under Gauhati University.
